Are Maison Soto products 100% natural?
At Maison Soto, our products are of natural origin, in accordance with ISO standard 16128. To meet this standard, the proportion of renewable, plant-derived ingredients must exceed 50% of the formulation. In the case of our products, this proportion is most often above 80%.
We have chosen not to offer products that are 100% natural according to IFRA, in order to retain the freedom to use certain synthetic ingredients when no natural equivalent exists and their cosmetic or olfactory properties are irreplaceable.
Are Maison Soto scented products safe?
Yes. All Maison Soto products comply with the standards established by IFRA (International Fragrance Association). Certain fragrance ingredients have maximum concentrations authorised by IFRA depending on the product category (perfume, candle, cream, room spray, rinse-off vs. leave-on, etc.), as exposure risk varies according to use. Other substances are prohibited or restricted by IFRA, including several allergens.
Can I use your home mists as perfume?
No. Our home mists should never be applied to the skin, as doing so can cause irritation and be harmful. Spray air fresheners are intended solely for perfuming rooms. Although the fragrances are of natural origin, they contain essential oils which, due to their natural composition, can cause allergies or irritation if applied directly on skin.
Do home mists affect and pollute indoor air quality?
Home mists generally produce fewer by-products, as fragrance levels are lower than in a candle and no combustion is involved. As with any home fragrance product, we recommend ventilating the room regularly, such as opening a window for a few minutes before and after use, and avoiding prolonged, continuous use in small, enclosed spaces.
Home mist or candle: what's the everyday difference?
It depends on the mood you want to create and the space you want to fill. Candles offer a slower, more enveloping diffusion and work well in enclosed rooms where you want warmth and ambiance. Home mists are best for an instant, on-demand refresh rather than constant background fragrance. Mist it in a room, a wardrobe, or even linens whenever you want an immediate lift, and reapply as often as you like throughout the day.
Choose the mist when you want fragrance on your terms, and the candle when you want an atmosphere that lasts.
How long a home mist lasts when it is used?
A home mist is measured in number of sprays rather than hours, and how long a bottle lasts depends entirely on frequency of use: occasional refreshing sprays will make it last considerably longer than continuous room diffusion. A Maison Soto home mist of 100ml gives you 1,000 sprays. 5 sprays is the optimal amount for perfuming a room of 15 m².
